We envision a revolutionary development with social change to build Peace, Harmony, Prosperity, and Protection for all.
Maldives Development Alliance (MDA)
Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) started as a movement in 2010 under the able leadership of Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Parliament member representing Dhaal Meedhoo constituency. During that time the country had massive political turmoil so the objective of the movement was to bring the stability and development desired by the civilians. Later the movement was named as Maldives Development Alliance and registered on 20th December 2012, when the country was in a political transition after the resignation of the President on 07th February 2012. Then MDA had three parliament members Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed (Dhaal Meedhoo Constituency), Hon. Ahmed Amir (Kudahuvadhoo Constituency) and Hon. Ahmed Moosa (Kurendhoo Constituency). MDA’s slogan is “My Share to My Country” and envisions a revolutionary social change to build Peace, Harmony, Prosperity, and Protection for all.
MDA signed a coalition agreement with the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) in August 2013 for the Presidential election. The coalition’s candidate won the 2013 Presidential elections.
MDA was a pivotal member of the government coalition from 2013 to 2018 holding two cabinet seats, and seven Parliament seats with multiple government portfolios. Today, being an active opposition party MDA has gained the trust of the people of the Maldives. MDA is among the most popular political parties in the country.
